Abstract

We live in an accelerated and constantly changing world, where we can truly feel at home only if we move forward with the changes. In such a world, we must become capable of proactively applying new technologies in a way that allows us not only to follow future trends, but also to shape them. The spread of artificial intelligence (AI) offers new opportunities in speech and language therapy practice.

Its use can not only shorten preparation time for sessions but also support the design of more personalized therapy plans, thereby increasing therapy efficiency. In this article, we present the areas in which artificial intelligence can support the work of speech and language therapists. We emphasize that while the use of AI is relevant and necessary, the credible professional expertise is an essential foundation in our field of speech therapy. AI tools can only be used effectively and ethically if they are built upon a solid foundation of professional knowledge – that means they cannot replace the lack of knowledge or competence of the therapists.
