The continuous evolution and development of the vocational education and training system in Hungary provides today's young people with a variety of vocational pathways after leaving primary school.
The career guidance and support of pupils with special educational needs requires special assistance, and the study focuses on providing information to help teachers support them in making decisions about further education. In addition to describing the current legal framework for vocational education and training, the vocational education and training system itself is partly described, including possible pathways for pupils with special educational needs.
The opportunities for further learning for young people with disabilities are not as wide as might be expected from the objectives of the new vocational education and training system. Vocational training for pupils with special educational needs poses different challenges for mainstream professionals, making it even more important to find the right institution, the right form of education and the active presence of special education support.
