Abstract

The topic of transgenderism is recently getting more accepted and explored which causes an increasing amount of studies focusing on transsexuality. The quality, methods, aspects of analyses of these researches cover indeed a wide range. Transgenderism is investigated mostly together with the other LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer) groups. The aim of my study is to introduce transgenderism in several ways: the heterogenity of this group, the models describing the possible ways of transgender identity development, therapeutic treatments and the transgender's status in healthcare services and education. Transgender identity development raises many questions beyond the individual level: theoretical, social, and research methodological questions. I prefer introducing the individual’s development more particularly.
