Our study investigates pre-school children’s gender stereotypes and views about boys, girls, male and female pre-school teachers. Population: 84 pre-school children, age between 4–7, from 5 Hungarian kindergarten groups 3 of which are lead by male teachers. Our results show that presence of a male teacher can improve views about girls and female teachers in kindergartens, but their effect on boys are controversial. Our study could not verify the presumption that male kindergarten teachers could decrease gender stereotypes, however it raised a need of further and deeper investigation and a professional gender strategy in the field of Early Childhood Education.
