Abstract

In this essay I introduce possible applications of adolescents’ projective drawings aiming at self-expression in pedagogical practice. During my research I implement The 5 symbols Art Task Series which is my own development. This is a projective art task series tailored for pedagogical practice, which contains 5 given symbols. These are ship, house, heart, tree and an optional symbol representing ourselves. The analysis of adolescent drawings’ visual symbols correlates with the methodology of iconography, iconology, symbol and drawing analysis. Beyond revealing the connection points with these fields, I describe the possible applications of my method in pedagogical context. In my essay I introduce the connotations of the 5 given symbols in detail and I discuss how the drawing of symbols contribute to self-expression.
