Abstract

Good quality and quantity of nutrition to meet physiological needs, especially in the first three years of life, is one of the cornerstones of children’s growth and development. Healthy eating is important for maintaining health as well as preventing disease. Malnutrition suffered in the first stage of life, during the first 1000 days, can affect children’s physical and intellectual development. Any type of malnutrition in early childhood has health consequences and also affects children’s psychosocial development. Institutions providing day care for young children have a key role to play in compensating for health and social inequalities. FINE! project – it is implemented in cooperation with five European countries – revolves around this topic.
