Children in our age are affected by many changes in environmental, social, technological, etc. surroundings. This paper discusses phenomena of middle childhood social relationships highlighted by common talk, especially challenges and institutional answers to them. Developmental characteristics of middle childhood influencing social relationships are discussed. Popularity, acceptance, rejection, bullying and personal, institutional features influencing them are the main foci of this paper. European projects aiming to support positive social climate in schools are also shown.
