The role of the pedagogue is well-known in various professional writings and is discussed in many essays. These works scrutinize the role of the pedagogue in three different ways. The researches – in chronological order - focused first on the personality of the pedagogues. After that, the analises were shifted to the practical work of the pedagogues. The third dimension of examinations was the knowledge of the pedagogues. These three trends exist parallelly in professional writings, but the majority of them focus on the teachers’ works and its effectiveness. Most of the researches on kindergarten teacher – which are lesser presented – do not take into account the opinion of the children. These researches do not pay attantion to „good” pedagogue defined by the children. In this study – which is an extract of the MA-thesis on „The role of the kindergarten teacher” – we make an attempt to reveal what children think about kindergarten teachers, with special regard to their sex.
