The aim of teacher training is to reveal and challenge trainees' beliefs, and change them if necessary. The first part of the article reviews the literature on the concept of beliefs and the role they play in teacher education. Then some relevant research techniques and methods are introduced that can be applied in teacher training for CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning). Finally a tool called metaphor grid is presented.
