Abstract

The Department of Foreign Languages and Literature of Apáczai Csere János Faculty of the University of West Hungary has supported educational innovations since its foundation 25 years ago. We use the Common European Framework as a guideline which puts the emphases on the importance of Content and Language Integrated Learning, multilingualism, intercultural learning and practical language knowledge. The presentation introduces some of the innovative teaching materials, tools and methods from those developed and tested in the Hungarian-Austrian bilingual project ‘EdTWIN’ (2008-2011) (e.g. portfolio for English-Hungarian-German language learning, a module course book for Hungarian as a foreign language, multimedia language workshop, micro- and project teaching, etc.) The above mentioned were tightly integrated into the English and German specialties of our Teacher Training.
