Abstract

NILD Educational Therapy® is a cognitive developmental program which integrates metacognitive thinking and interactive communication – the key factors to effective learning. The therapist facilitates students’ higher level thinking in their zone of proximal development (ZPD), usually with questions. The therapy aims at all areas of language development from auditory processing to comprehension and also the oral and written expression. With developing phonological awareness, we lay the foundation and enhance reading and spelling. Phonological awareness development appears in different techniques (NILD Educational Therapyâ works with more than 20 techniques). Phonological awareness covers rhyme, syllable and phonemic awareness. In the present study, we offer some exercises for the development of all the three areas after introducing NILD Educational Therapy shortly.
