Abstract

Majority of researches done on child language present the development in the very first years of life, although language acquisition doesn’t end at this age. Important development takes place even after the age of 6–7. This present summary paper looks through the results of research on Hungarian children’s speech development from the age of 3 to adolescence. It presents the changes in speech organs, the development of articulation, vocabulary and grammar, and also the most important characteristics of fluent speech. It also deals with the ways how children use speech for expressing their communicational aims, and participating in conversations.
