Language development and specific learning difficulties are both classified as neurodevelopmental disorders, so that the diagnostic system indicates the overlapping between the disorders of language development and the specific learning difficulties. Language developmental disorders that are reflected in speech development may also cause confusion in reading, but the effects of development and disturbances of speech is not necessarily the only effect in the development of reading disorders, and the disturbances in the development of language do not lead necessarily to dyslexia. The multifarious background factors have led to a variety of typologies of dyslexia. However our main goal shouldn’t be to find the exact typology of dyslexia but to identify the profiles of the differences in the process of acquiring reading and other skills, so that proper developmental procedures could be provided. Methods to promote language development and to prevent dyslexia are similar in many respects, but are also complementary.
