Developing the language skills underpinning the acquisition of written language is one of the keys to a successful start to school. Meixner's methodology offers a way of doing this, which can be linked to the objectives, tasks and major themes of the educational plan, and which takes into account the linguistic specificities of the child or group. The language material presented in the study offers opportunities for play not only in order to expand active and passive vocabulary and activate vocabulary, but also to develop other important skills and abilities, such as word and sentence memory, attention, phonological awareness, and focusing on sentence comprehension and sentence production. The language material presented in the study is a model on the basis of which, by means of a variety of tools, a conscious structuring of the language material can be used to focus on strengthening verbality, whether or not some children deviate from the age-related language features expected on the basis of age as a result of atypical development or an unfavourable literacy environment.
