Abstract

How can one of the most personal and humane subjects, music, be reconciled with digital technology? Of course, there is nothing to replace personal contact and emotional experience, nor is that the goal. Digital technology gives the student the opportunity to gain practical musical experiences through playing, discover the structure of a musical piece or a musical style, and train their abstract thinking. Regarding music teachers, digital technology has the potential to accelerate the processes of practice, monitoring and evaluation while providing more room for skill development. Digital musical applications allow the students to express themselves creatively without the fear of failure and anxiety. In addition, students have the opportunity to approach music and musical concepts in a complex and flexible way, and to solve tasks in collaboration with their peers. The goal of the study is that music teachers see digital technology as an opportunity rather than an obstacle. The recommended music applications provide initial help to fill the digital methodological gaps of classroom music education.
