Her paper includes case studies of Romeo+Juliet (dir. Baz Luhrmann, 1996), Shakespeare in Love (dir. John Madden, 1998), Joss Whedon’s film noir-inspired Much Ado About Nothing (2012), and Richard Eyre’s film of King Lear (2018), arguing that success relies on some form of crossover effect. -
