Abstract
There are only a couple of essays in Hungarian exist on the obelisks (rdo-ring) and inscriptions (rdo-ring-gi yi-ge) from the age of the Tibetan Kingdom (7th-9th century). As far as I know there aren’t any essays written on the inscription of Bsam-yas. In the following article of course I had no chance to analyze the whole history and the exterior of the Tibetan obelisks nor the questions come up about the inscription. These informations easily could be found in the professional literature. The aim of the following short article – to which the expedition to Tibet during the summer of 2010 contributes a lot – is to introduce the philological analysis of the rdo-ring inscription of Bsam-yas monastery, one of the most famous steles of the Tibetan Kingdom. What makes so special about the stele is that it bears the characteristics of the preclassical Tibetan language (skad rnying). Analysing it could draw many interesting philological conclusions.
