Abstract
Guan Weming, a self-taught Sibe historian, was born into the Gūwargeya clan in 1938 in today’s Qapqal Sibe Autonomous County in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of north-western China. He has devoted much of his life to searching for and studying Sibe family trees to be found in Xinjiang. Although the majority of the family trees in his collection are not original, his collection, which includes materials both in the Manchu/Sibe language and in Chinese, is a valuable source for research aiming to explore Sibe history and family trees. This study is intended to present Guan Wenming’s collection contained in 57 folders and to highlight its significance.
