Abstract

The global trends of education strongly influence the development of teacher education. The quality as a basic requirement is an umbrella definition. One of the aspects
of quality is the strong connection between theory and practice in pre-service teachers’ and in-service teachers’ ongoing professional development. Professional
development schools, which emphasize the importance of education research in continuous professional development, are existing all over the world.
A great amount of experience can be a starting point. The question is whether there is a will on behalf of decisionmakers and the academic sphere to support
the development of professional schools in Hungary. We are giving our suggestions how to start from the direction of local best practices.
