The study deals with the history of court administration, which includes the rules of court management and the rules of court proceedings during the period of dualism. The legislative background of court administration during this period consisted of many different elements. The laws establishing the organisation of the courts, the ministerial decrees issued on the basis of these laws and the material and procedural regulations also contained provisions on the activities of the courts. The study shows that with the progression of legislation and increasing codification, the regulation of court administration also became more differentiated and focussed. It was noticeably influenced by the norms that emerged at each stage of development: the restructuring of the organisation, the drafting of the various codes meant that the Minister of Justice had to issue new regulations and, over time, regulations specifically for court administration. The list of these regulations can be seen as an overview of the development of Hungarian law and the history of the organisation and operation of our courts.
