ABSTRACT
ADHD is one of the most common neurodevelopmental psychiatric disorders of childhood. Symptoms can cause impairment of various severity, affecting several aspects of quality of life considering the child and the whole family. In most cases, ADHD is best treated with a combination of behavior therapy and pharmacotherapy.
For preschool-aged children (4-6 years of age) with ADHD, behavior therapy, particularly training for parents, is recommended as first line treatment before starting medication. What works best can depend on the child and family. Children with ADHD often show behaviors that can be very disruptive to others, affecting their peer relations and self-image. Behavior therapy is a treatment option that can help reduce these behaviors while supporting the self-perception.
The aim of our publication is to introduce the “Fészek” and the “Méhkas” ADHD-specific programs, available at Vadaskert Child-and Adolescent Hospial and Outpatient Clinic.
