Abstract

Mária Honti was a teacher of Hungarian language and literature and history, a textbook writer, the author of numerous studies in literary history, subject methodology and pedagogy, the former head of ELTE Trefort Ágoston Secondary Practice School, former ministerial officer of public education, retired secretary of state. Her work mainly concerns teachers’ continuous professional development, and the frontier field between literature and linguistics. For her, the profession was synonymous with taking responsibility for students and society. Her career serves as a beacon for her colleagues and students.
