Abstract

Candidate teachers need training in a number of areas for the successful teaching and educating of children and young people. In order to attract teacher candidates to the career and keep experienced teachers in the career, it is essential that they consider themselves competent and ready to develop in the face of problems and challenges.

It depends on, among other things, the type of school and the subject, what kind of tasks the teacher (candidate) faces and what opportunities they have to develop the students. The articles in our section draw attention to the importance of theoretical training and field or teaching practice from the point of view of language and professional teachers by presenting the institutional training and pilot program of two different teacher educators.

How can language teachers experienced in teaching vocabulary contribute to the development of students? How can teaching practices and concerning experience processing classes help strengthen the teacher identity of vocational teacher candidates in an environment of change and challenge? We seek answers to these questions and consider a number of additional dilemmas.

We look forward to readers' views and reflections on the articles and the questions raised!
