Beginner teachers are first faced with the reality of school life during their teaching practice. This is when they have the first opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge in practice. This period of starting their career is sometimes called “reality shock”, as fresh graduates encounter a lot of difficulties in school life. This paper reviews the issues, possibilities and problems which arise in practical engineering teacher training.
