Abstract

This study briefly presents the method of gamification and a way of its application in the teaching of classroom music. The method was tested in 7th grade in which students did not have an increased number of music classes, moreover, music was not among their favourite subjects. This new kind of teaching methodology was applied within the subject of romanticism and included three lessons. In our pedagogical experiment, we used a control group study design. The use of gamification has significantly increased students’ motivation. Gamification can be a new method in teaching classroom music, which is also worth addressing in teacher education. The method presented in this study can also provide ideas for teaching other subjects.
