Abstract

Beginning teachers' retention in the profession is fundamentally influenced by their experience gained during their first years in schools and by the professional support they receive. Our study gives an overview of the methodology programmes offered to physical education teachers. ‘Methodological Intervention Program for Novice PE Teacher's' that has been introduced during the last two years is presented in the study with special focus on its content and rationale. We also present participant teachers' experience based on their reflections. It is our aim to introduce the areas of the programme that have had tremendous influence on young teachers' professional development and to come up with practical proposals for their mentoring.
