Purpose of Data Processing

Modern Nyelvoktatás collects and processes personal data for the purposes of publishing the journal and operating its website.

Types of Data Collected

Personal data are collected for the purposes of authenticating authors in the publication process and enabling readers to contact them. In connection with the publication of manuscripts, we collect and publish the following information on the journal’s website for both research articles and reviews:

  • author’s/authors’ name(s) (surname and first name)
  • author’s/authors’ affiliation(s) (title/academic degree/employer)
  • email address
  • ORCID iD

Legal Basis for Data Processing

The legal basis for data processing includes:

  • Act CXII of 2011 on Informational Self-Determination and Freedom of Information (Chapter III): Act CXII of 2011
  • Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation, GDPR): GDPR

Rights of Data Subjects

Data subjects may request information about the processing of their personal data and may request access to, rectification, modification, erasure, or restriction of the processing of their personal data by submitting a written request to modernnyelvoktatas@gmail.com.

Upon request, the data controller shall provide information about the data it processes, the purposes, legal basis, and duration of the processing, the name and address (registered office) of the data processor and its activities relating to the processing of personal data, as well as information about who has received or may receive the data and for what purposes. The data controller shall provide this information in writing as soon as possible and no later than 25 days after the request has been submitted.

The data controller shall erase personal data where their processing is unlawful, where the data subject requests erasure, where the purpose of processing has ceased to exist, where the legally prescribed retention period has expired, or where erasure is ordered by legislation, an act of the European Union, the competent authority, or a court.

If a data subject disagrees with the information provided in response to their request or with the decision of the data controller, or if the data controller fails to respond within the prescribed time limit, the data subject may seek judicial remedy. Complaints may also be submitted to the Hungarian National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (NAIH):
