The Studies section's description

This section publishes academic articles from education sciences and social sciences. The section shares empirical research results, theoretical analyses, scholarly literature analyses, and one or more research area's findings' all-around synthesized recapitulation, including some in English in a limited number. The units of the section:

  • Beyond the Borders: It publishes articles in foreign languages that are also relevant in the international arena, as well as studies on the global scientific situation of a topic. This section can also contain Hungarian articles, which present the opportunity to observe and learn more about the prominently foreign achievements and examples.
  • In Focus: This subsection occasionally operates with the assistance of a guest editor. Its goal is to present a given topic's more nuanced studies.
  • Overview: Articles here are picked from the freely sent-in works that contain novelty about the fields of educational sciences.

The journal only publishes original, previously unpublished papers and, at the same time, not submitted to other journals. The published papers' authors retain their right to publish their study post-publication in this journal in print, in an omnibus edition, in conference proceedings, or republish in a different language. From the publisher's standpoint, it doesn't count as previously published if it was distributed in closed quarters as replicated manuscripts (direct issues, final research reports, conference presentations, etc.) or if it is a published monograph or close to publishing one.

In the case of works published in the Studies section, the author and the two reviewers participate anonymously in preparing the publication process. The review's most important aspects: the chosen format's requirements are met; the problem's actuality; how interesting the topic is; the theoretical approach appearing in work; the applied research paradigm; the quality of methods and instruments; new results, research findings; the used scholarly literature's relevance and recentness; overall impression of the manuscript. After the review, if the reviewers promote the work for publishing, the author has a one-time opportunity to mend the manuscript.

The manuscripts should be sent by e-mail to ntnytitkar@ppk.elte.hu. It should be around 15-20 printed pages (30000-40000 characters). The notation of charts, diagrams, citations, and scholarly literature should be done as stated in the guideline for authors. At the end of the paper, there must be an English summary, 3-6 keywords, and key concepts. The abstract should be a 150-250 word count continuous text without paragraphs, highlights, or citations. The paper's title, the abstract, and the keywords should be submitted in both Hungarian and English, with no difference in content. There must be an introduction from the author, which has to be a short paragraph (3-4 lines) and submitted in both languages. To maintain communication between the author and the readers, the following will be shared: workplace, schedule, and contact information. Please attach these as well when sending the manuscript.

The Review section's description

The Review section's highest priority is to present works involving innovations in pedagogy and research methodology in educational science. In its approach, it takes it upon itself to emphasise its critique on research, developments, views on innovations, and the relevance of its questions and problems. It will be open to new topics and perspectives, to different opinions and reflections. The section's additional speciality is that it is available for reviews of books and other types of publications, like interesting studies, research reports, products of pedagogical innovations, and online formats.

The Review section contains the following subsections:

  • The Current Times subsection is for reviews of new and outstanding national and international publications;
  • older publications' re-evaluation or its present-day message and interpretation is in the Reassessed subsection;
  • new and fresh publications about defining topics or debated matters in the Critical Questions subsection;
  • Inspections of national and international professional and scientific journals and papers, including online publications, are in Under Observation.

There are multiple ways to become an author in the Review section. The author can apply with:

a) critique of a self-selected paper,

b) critique of the article advertised online by the section editors,

c) personal request for specific topic-related articles.

The section's editors will assess the submitted articles; the author will always receive this assessment. The assessment's results can be the following:

a) the article is accepted (occasionally minimal changes are recommended),

b) the article is accepted after the recommended changes are implemented,

c) the article is rejected because of its topic or quality.
