Introduction to our new column: Sandbox

2020-05-12

We are more than excited to let you know that we have launched a new column entitled “Sandbox.” This column features short articles containing source code, algorithms, software (codes, fragments of code), raw and structured data, data visualizations, and files related to these harmonizing with the field of Digital Humanities. With this column, the editorial board aims at building a bridge between the spheres of information technology and research, as Digital Humanities projects involve more often than not team members of various academic and non-academic backgrounds, affiliations.

We intend to publish files along with brief documentation both in Hungarian and English according to the CC-licence of the journal in an Open Access format. The articles of the column, in line with the policy of the journal, before publication go through double-peer review and editing. Péter Király (Göttingen eResearch Alliance, Germany) shoulders the responsibility for this column.

We advise our future authors to consider the recommendations of Software Maturity Levels v3.0 published by CESSDA with respect to the software:

  • Development Documentation
  • Intellectual Property
  • Extensibility
  • Modularity
  • Packaging
  • Portability
  • Standards Compliance
  • Support
  • Verification and Testing
  • Security
  • Internationalisation and Localisation
  • Authentication and Authorisation
(John Shepherdson. “CESSDA Software Maturity Levels”. Zenodo, March 29, 2019. http://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.2614050.)

A short introduction and documentation of the files and 5-7 keywords are required in English. Please take into account relevant information technology standards of your field.

You can send your manuscript (files and their documentation) to the journal via the “Submit” page.

Should you need any help, or have any question, do not hesitate to reach out to the editorial board via the “Contact us!” page.
