The study examines the development of Hungarian–Cuban relations in the decade immediately following the victory of the Cuban
Revolution. Following the establishment of diplomatic relations, it analyzes the relationship between the two countries in the areas
of politics, economics, and party relations. Particular emphasis is placed on demonstrating that Hungarian–Cuban relations were fare from problem-free: despite the obligatory rhetoric of international solidarity, the Hungarian side was reluctant to make significant financial sacrifices to support the island nation.
