Visszatérés a „régi” virtushoz

A tanulmány a római homines novi politikai és kulturális szerepét elemzi, akik családi előzmények nélkül jutottak a senatus és a magistratusok soraiba. A vizsgálat középpontjában az áll, miként konstruálták meg önazonosságukat a „régi” virtushoz való visszatérés narratívájával, és hogyan használták ezt a retorikai eszközt politikai legitimitásuk megerősítésére. A források alapján kirajzolódik, hogy a homo novus alakja egyszerre testesítette meg a társadalmi mobilitás lehetőségét és a hagyományos elit kihívását. A tanulmány rávilágít arra, hogy a római politikai kultúrában a tradícióhoz való kapcsolódás és az újítás diskurzusa sajátos módon fonódott össze az identitásformálás folyamataiban.
