In my study, I examine the generic clause in § 1 of the Hungarian Unfair Competition Act. The focus of the research is the practice of the Arbitration Court of the Budapest Chamber of Commerce and Industry and its Jury. In the study, I seek to answer the question of what constituted the starting point for the unfair competition acts. This was important because it was the basis for deciding whether a particular commercial practice was unfair or not. In this study, I examine the practice of the Arbitration Court and the Jury of the Budapest Chamber of Commerce and Industry because these were the law enforcement bodies that were most likely to attempt to standardise practice in the field of commercial competition by providing guidance.
