This study is aimed at presenting the formation and development of associational life with special regard to both the beginnings in the 19th century and the social, economic and cultural factors contributing to the establishment of these associations. Nowadays, when there is a renewed interest in the establishment of associations, it is worth getting to know the characteristics of the operation of associations of the period, including their rules and bylaws, their organizational structure, as well as the everyday life, the way of thinking and the leisure activities of the members.
The research explores the main characteristics of the operation of the associations, their impact on the local communities, and the cultural and scientific values created by them.
The study aims to provide an insight into the everyday life and activities of the examined associations. The historical analysis helps to understand how the previous generations thought, what values they followed, how their community lives were shaped, and what traditions we were left by them. The cultural heritage created by associations – museums, libraries, local press and other institutions – still play a crucial role in the preservation of local cultural heritage.
