Abstract

The study addresses whether from a legal point of view, we can speak of a separate Transylvanian reform era, i.e. a period when legislation was drafted in connection with the modernisation of the region, and if so, what the most important features of this period were. How long did it last, what kind of legislation was produced, to what extent did they consider other legislations as models, and, in general, who the initiators of these proposals were. It queries whether there were any parallels between the Transylvanian and Hungarian reform periods in legal terms, and what the message of the Transylvanian reform period for later generations was.
