The exciting story of the Sienese Antonio Montucci is inserted in European history between the 18th and 19th centuries, when the development of a new sociability was intertwined with the circulation of ideas, books and culture. An Italian teacher in Great Britain and then at the courts of Berlin and Dresden, Antonio Montucci contributed to the spread of the Italian literary tradition and the advancement of Sinology, without ever going to the Celestial Empire
