This article explores the economic history of Iron Age Lachish (8th–7th centuries BCE), examining how the city functioned within the administrative and economic framework of the Kingdom of Judah. Drawing on recent archaeological discoveries and written sources, the study focuses on agriculture, olive oil production, and the role of literacy. It emphasizes the importance of micro-level economic analysis in reshaping our understanding of how the Judahite state operated within the complex sociopolitical environment of the southern Levant.
