Abstract

The present paper explores the history of terminology of Hungarian nominal cases: what antecedents they had and why there is no unified and generally recognized terminology of cases existing in Hungarian linguistics. The study analyses the terminology of Hungarian cases from the most important grammars of the early ages to the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries with the help of some principles taken from cognitive terminology.
