Abstract

“Relics of the Székely Script” is an unavoidable work in the history of research on the Székely-Hungarian Rovash script. In addition to the values of the book, there are also some shortcomings, probably due, among other things, to decades of unfavourable science policy. This may be the reason for several deficiencies in the research and recognition of the Székely script in Hungarian scholarship. The fact that Hungarian linguists are absent from the study, which is detrimental to the deciphering, linguistic and dialect-historical aspects, is one of the most striking. A typical example is the case of the Constantinople Inscription.
