Abstract

The article unveils the order of thought in Frigyes Karinthy’s vignette entitled Nepenthes. The main organizer of thoughts comes from the world of the narrator, together with different ways of thinking from the worlds of friends, family members and the carnivorous plant itself (Nepenthes). The logical (e.g., expansion, antecedent, consequence, denial, etc.) and rhetorical (allusion, chiasm, irony, etc.) nature of relationships leads to ridiculousness (ridiculum)
