Abstract
Animal representations form a special group of objects of the Bronze Age material of Hungary. Bird representations have been known ever since the beginnings of research on the Broze Age in Hungary. The earliest ones come from Nógrád County, e.g. from Kisterenye-Hársas and Szécsény-Kerekdomb, the area where the rattles published here were found as well. In their syntheses written about the Early and Middle Bronze Ages of Hungary, both István Bóna and Nándor Kalicz reviewed bird representations and rattles known up until that time.
