Absztrakt

A tanulmány Galénos és Aulus Gellius írásainak metatextuális rétegeit vizsgálja, különös figyelemmel arra, miként kerül párhuzamba a szöveg és az emberi test működése. Az orvosi és grammatikai diskurzus egymásra vetítése nem csupán retorikai eszköz, hanem kognitív séma is, amely szerint a szöveg gyógyítható, megbetegedhet, vagy terápiás funkciót tölthet be. A tanulmány arra mutat rá, hogy a test és a szöveg közötti hasonlóság felvetése nemcsak mint irodalmi-retorikai eszköz működik, hanem a római kulturális önértelmezés eszközeként is. A grammatika és az orvoslás közös tere így a tudásformák közötti átjárás lehetőségét is példázza.

Jessica Lightfoot klasszika-filológus, a Birminghami Egyetem Klasszika-filológiai, Ókortörténeti és Régészeti Tanszékének adjunktusa. Kutatási területe a görög és római irodalom- és tudománytörténet. Jelenlegi kutatásai az ókori tudományos hagyományra összpontosítanak, különösen a paradoxográfia, a földrajz, a zoológia, az orvostudomány és a csillagászat területére.
