Places of Transition in the Isis Sanctuary of Savaria

Abstract

Over the course of its approximately 250-year history, the Iseum displayed several unusual architectural features that are either unparalleled elsewhere or have not yet been investigated. These features are of interest not only for understanding the organization of the space and clarifying its original functions, but also because they raise a number of questions from the perspective of the history of religion. This article seeks to answer these questions, even if only hypothetically.
