Abstract

This publication offers a Hungarian translation of Diodorus Siculus’ Bibliotheca historica, focusing on Book 16, chapters 56–64, which recount the Third Sacred War. (This is the second part of the translation; the first part was published in Ókor, 2022/1.) The accompanying introduction and notes provide historical context and discuss the structure, language, and historiographical techniques of the source text. The aim is to make a significant, though previously little-accessible, passage of classical historiography available in Hungarian, with particular attention to internal Greek conflicts, Theban–Phocian relations, and the rise of Philip of Macedon.
