Guest-Edited Issues

LIST OF RULES FOR GUEST-EDITED ISSUES

Lejana. Revista Crítica de Narrativa Breve’s Editors are pleased to invite well-developed proposals for occasional guest-edited special issues.

Potential Guest-Editors are asked to submit a synopsis of the proposed special issue, outlining how—always in line with the aims of Lejana. Revista Crítica de Narrativa Breve—the collection as a whole would contribute to current theoretical and critical debates in Spanish-language Literatures. Special issue proposals should be submitted to the Journal by e-mail to bader.petra@btk.elte.hu, including the following information:

  • The Guest-Editor’s details (name, e-mail, and affiliation).
  • A description, in no more than 2 pages, about the theme of the special issue, of the research context of the topics to be covered, and of the theoretical framework and research significance of the topic.
  • In a separate document, relevant bibliography, keywords and/or theoretical concepts related to the field of study proposed.

Special issue submissions will be expected to represent state-of-the-art research in a particular area and to this end should demonstrate that contributions are representative of current activity in the domain proposed. Proposals will be subject to editorial consideration and approval by unanimous decision. The case for a special issue can be made by the Editors, or by a prospective Guest-Editor. A special issue is published if there would be at least 5 specialized articles on the topic convoked in the Call of Papers (always publish at the section “Announcements”).

The role of Guest-Editors should be well-defined, and they should possess comprehensive knowledge of the Journal’s culture, peer review processes, and publishing model. This information is available on the Journal’s website. Furthermore, we invite Guest-Editors to read the following document in order to familiarize with the ethical guide implied in their cases: COPE Council. COPE Guidelines: A Short Guide to Ethical Editing for New Editors. May 2019. https://doi.org/10.24318/cope.2019.1.8

In order to avoid COI and bias, and to prevent endogeny and publishing cartels, the following mitigation measures are implemented in the cases when the Guest-Editor shares the same affiliation as the authors contribution to their coordinated special issue. The special issue’s Guest-Editor will mainly choose the special issue’s content, but the Journal’s editors will ultimately decide on matters pertaining to scope, conflicting interests, and peer review. So that, as any other manuscript received, the papers of the special issue will undergo the standard refereeing procedure (double blind peer review), controlled by the Journal’s Editors, the result of which will be communicated to the Guest-Editor. Guest-Editors should receive comprehensive instructions on the Journal’s editing procedure for the special issue’s content. The following guideline should be followed: COPE Council. COPE Discussion Document: Handling Competing Interests. January 2016. https://doi.org/10.24318/ElTeSLhp

The standard principles and ethics of the Journal are relevant for the Guest-Editor as well. Regarding guidelines are available on the Journal’s website.
