Diary of a Painter is a travel journal that the underappreciated Spanish, Ramón Gaya, drafted over a year; testimony of a trip exactly a year between June 19, 1952 and June 18, 1953. The notebook presents geographical displacement of its author for Europe: France, Italy, Spain and Portugal occur in annotations; truly relevant is no longer the testimony of the trip, but especially his way of understanding art and his own writing, so that Diary of a Painter is a double journey: outside and inside, thus respecting the conventions of the private diary.
