Two contemporary Mexican travel chroniclers, Juan Villoro and Luis Arturo Ramos, analyze globalization and neoliberalism, especially through recreating the borders and/or sites of global consumption. Their post-tourist trips reveal what they think of the place of neoliberalism and its effects on Mexicanness. These cosmopolitan travelers position the genre of the travel chronicle along the lines of the political commentary, they also show, explicitly or implicitly, the limitations of their perspectives.
