This paper focuses on the ways that a consciousness of identity arises through the double nature of text and image in El Tesoro de la sombra (1999) and two micro-stories of Jodorowsky and Boucq: ‘El laberinto inundado’ and ‘Narciso y la bestia’. Both stories present a character who is undone as soon as he becomes fully aware of his own identity. Similarly, the analysis of A. Tarkovski's film The mirror explains how visual arts and literature become related, since concept of the human glance also plays a dominant role. The punctum concept stated by R. Barthes in La chamber Claire (1980) guides our theoretical proposals in conjunction with the ‘fascinated glance’ treated by P. Quignard in his Le sexe e l’effroi (2005).
