“Sueños”, by Eulalia Galvarriato: An Approach to Her Oneiric Literature

This article analyses a series of texts written between the 1940s and 1983, grouped under the title “Sueños” [Dreams], which the Spanish novelist Eulalia Galvarriato published in her volume Raíces bajo el tiempo [Roots beneath Time] (1985). “Sueños” renews the oneiric topos by combining allegorical and realistic elements, as well as through a diversity of structures, thematic motifs, and resolutions. The study concludes that these pieces transcend mere biographical transcription to constitute autonomous and deliberate micro-texts operating under their own “oneiric pact”. It thus configures a corpus that is uniquely integrated into a specific literary tradition within Spanish letters, while offering new scopes for the study of the dream as a literary genre.
