Abstract

In this article the transmission line vibration modeling system built at the Savaria Institute of Technology is introduced. The system is realized at the Manufacturing technologies laboratory whit the primary purpose to model the effects of ice-shedding from transmission lines using artificial weights. To measure the forces during vibrations force transducer are utilized at the end of the cables. The weight used to simulate the ice are attached with electromagnets, what is controlled by a purpose built micro-controller based system. In the article the implemented measurement system, weight control system and it's program is introduced. The setup was tested with a two measurements.
