Abstract
The assemblage of 92 Ottoman-age pipes from the castle of Esztergom (142 bulk products are to be described later) has a great weight in the stock of pipes found in Hungary and even in the material discovered in the whole area of the Ottoman Empire. (The only complete published trove so far is that of Palánk containing 62 Ottoman-age pieces without the mass produces pipes; it is followed by a selection of 33 pieces from the Eger stock.) The trove of 41 finds (without bulk commodities) dated to the 18th century is even more significant, since only a few sporadically published pieces have so far been known.
